December Newsletter
Dear Parents, The children have been learning well and you should have received updated targets that you could help your child with before the end of term. Our partnership with you is of the highest importance, and works both ways. Thank you for the information you provide too, as this helps us to help your child. If you have any questions about your child's targets please ask the class teacher. We may only have a few days before a well earned break, but there are still lots of end of term events taking place, including our annual visit from Santa! Please check the diary dates and we hope to see you soon. We also hope you have a lovely break and are able to catch up with family and friends. We are closing on Thursday 19th and will look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 7th January. With warm regards, Ms Gita |

Nursery Places Do you have or know anyone who has a child whose birthday is between 1st September 2021 to 31st August 2022? Do you know that they are entitled to 15 hours free nursery place, starting the term after they turn 3 or for the new academic year 2025 26? We have a few nursery places still available so please do contact us. We are able to offer a fun and stimulating environment with support in all areas of development. If you have a child who will be 3 before the end of this term and you would like them to start nursery in the new year please come and see us. This would mean they would still be in nursery for this and next academic year, and will give them a really good start to their educational journey.

Free and Low Cost Holiday Events Ideas for family fun that won’t break the bank this Christmas have been put together in a handy guide by Leicester City Council. From craft sessions at libraries to cycling with Santa, the listings have lots of ideas for free or low-cost activities taking place during December. On Saturday 14 December, Beaumont Leys library will team up with the city’s museums for a special ‘Museums on Tour’ event. Pop in between 11am and 4pm for free arts, crafts and storytelling, as well as the chance to explore fascinating items from the museums’ collections in the ‘Cabinet of Curiosity’. |
Trip Volunteers Would you be interested in volunteering to accompany children on school trips? You will have the opportunity to visit some exciting places. You will be supporting the children’s learning and keeping them safe under the direction of the teacher or the group leader. If you are interested and meet the following requirements please come and see Mrs Thakrar in the office:
We do have a small bank of parents at present, however we often struggle to find the numbers of adults we need. It would be great to have more people to help. If you can help or have any questions, please come and talk to us.

After School Clubs This is a reminder that the new afterschool clubs for the spring term will start on w/c 13th January, 2025. If your child has been allocated a place, you will receive a confirmation letter after the Christmas holidays.. |
Governor Vacancy We are hoping to recruit new Parent Governors to join our Governing Body. The governing body is responsible for both the overall strategic direction of the school and for promoting high standards. You do not need any special qualifications. If you have an interest in the school and the welfare of our pupils & community, and have the time and willingness to get involved, you could be the person we are looking for. You would need to be able to commit to two termly meetings in the evening from 6pm, and be able to visit the school during the day a few times a year, too. Governors are volunteers who give time to benefit the whole school community, and we appreciate everything you do for us all. Please show your interest by sending an email to gpatel@shenton.leicester.sch.uk and Ms Gita will get back to you. |
Winter Presents Whether the children celebrate Eid, Diwali or Christmas, each child will receive a gift at the end of term. It is our way of showing respect for the diversity at Shenton that makes our school so special. |
